Most of her work sells privately, much of it on commission. She has been Artist in Residence at the Reform Club, the Laban Dance Centre and also at the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
She has had six one-man shows and her work has been hung in many exhibitions, including the Royal Academy, the Royal Festival Hall, the Dulwich Picture Gallery and at the Mall Galleries where she regularly shows her paintings on their digital website (Buy Art/ Buy Now) She has taught in art colleges, schools and art societies – and privately from her own studio. She also runs summer plein air painting day workshops.
Karen has also worked as a decorative painter, muralist and illustrator. She has illustrated more than a dozen children’s books, and written one herself. Karen is a figurative painter, working mostly in oil. She has always believed in the importance of craft in her work – where her choice of subject matter reflects the richness and variety in her life. Her particular interest is to capture the fleeting, often joyful, play of light on her subject – giving timelessness to a moment of transience.
She now lives and works in Hampshire.
